In this Remixlabel exclusive interview, we take a trip up to Dallas, Texas and visit the troublesome, nicest, daring, most baddest kid on the block the Good Child.
The inspiration for the Good Child lifestyle...
The brand revolves 99.9% around my family and 0.1% around my life in general.
Growing up were you really the Good Child?
I sure as sh•t was. Although, my father says I didn't have much competition with the consistent misbehavior of my brothers. They weren't horrible, but they bickered a lot. I mostly kept to myself.
The Good Child will be...
A humble brand for as log as it is alive.
When preparing a collection for the Good Child...
I try to clear my head and look for inspiration within my own life; I stop looking at brands around me and try to maintain a distinctiveness with the personal story in each collection.
Why do you think Tx and the midwest get overlooked in lifestyle & streetwear brands when surrounded by those out in the east & west coast?
The coasts absorb new brands before we do, because they are the greatest cultural hubs in the USA; they're constantly being exposed to new imports before the Midwest. However, we are still on point with our style here, albeit "late." It's a slow, but well-founded uprising here. I see a great sense of family between the Southern brands, too.
What artist or brands would the Good Child love to work with?
Tough question, but I would love to work with anyone who could challenge me and inspire me to push myself and my brand further. I admire some of the great illustrators in Texas - Fresh Kauffe, Grits, and Loyal KNG.
Most people dont know that the Good Child...
Is run solely by a female - myself!
What Good Child life would you have preferred Richie Rich or Home Alone?
Definitely Home Alone. Growing up, I was Good, but I did love playing small pranks on or with my brothers.
Last but not least...
